SHORT BIO
Dimitris Vavouras was born in 1993 in Ptolemaida, Greece. During his childhood, he attended painting lessons at Th. Zyrpiadis' Studio. In 2017 he gratuated from the School of Fine Arts in Ioannina, Department of Fine Arts and Sciences of Art with grade 8,08 . He has participated in a few group exhibitions since 2015 until today. In February of 2019, he was included on the shortlist for The Hopper Prize.
Nowadays he is a visual artist who is concerned with the idea of portrait and its tenor in the history of art, in a cotemporary way. His artworks are primarily characterized as anthropocentric, most of them incorporate within them the notions of absence, memory and identity. He is also concerned with photography as well. Lately he discovered his passion about analogue photography and films. His photographs are mostly a kind of diary.
